I’m a recovered addict who has a passion for working with other addicts and believes my mission in life today is to give hope to anyone out there suffering from the disease of addiction. From my own experience recovering from a long-term ketamine addiction, I firmly believe that there is a way out and there is freedom available for everyone.
I came from secondary housing in Southend where i built the foundation of my recovery and when the time was right i started as a volunteer with the passion and drive to help the next addict who walks through the doors of Step-by-Step recovery. I progressed from a volunteer with in depth training to become a recovery worker which i thoroughly enjoy. Seeing the client’s flourish and tackle their addiction head on reminds me of the resilience and courage i had to show in treatment to find the freedom i had always looked for. There are highs and lows which come with the nature of this role however i would not change it for the world. I love my job and have a purpose today and that’s thanks to 12-step fellowship and step-by-step recovery.
Recovery comes first for me, and I only have a life today because of the foundation of recovery i have built. I enjoy travelling to different countries, attending 12-step fellowship conventions. I keep myself reasonably fit with swimming and gym and I live a simple life without chaos. Life is great today and there is so much more to come!
